We watched a kid president video and it talked about something called Book It Forward. They want you to put a picture on social media with you and your favorite book that inspired you with the #bookitforward so other people will want to read that and it may inspire them. They are hoping to get 10,000 people doing it worldwide. I am doing Amulet #1 and it inspired me to be AWESOME. OK, what it inspired me about is never underestimate anyone because everyone has something special in them. It's a great book. It is a cool graphic novel by Kazu Kibuishi. You should read them there is six books in the series so far. Great book.
I did a R.A.F.T. on Roanoke, a early colony. I was playing the role of John White and I wrote a journal in a style he might write it in. Here it is!
1586 We set sail to a new land today. We found out that the land had food and friendly people. We came back to tell them that. We decided to make a colony. I became the leader of the colony. We ran out of food and supplies because the people we brought couldn't farm. 1587 We got more prepared today with 100 more workers. I am going back for supplies. I can’t get back with the supplies. There is a war here. It isn’t safe to go back and the war is getting worse. The war is starting to end. I think it’’s almost time for me to go back. 1590 I can finally get back. They are gone. The only thing they left is CROATOAN carved into a post. There is a bad storm. I must go. They aren’t here and the storm is getting worse. I hope we can find them. I wish we could stay, but we can’t search and the storm is almost here. It's the first day of school after thanksgiving break so no more extra food :-\ . SO MUCH FOOD! Anyway, I had so much fun. We always go to Thanksgiving at my grandparent's house. We also have early Christmas there because we can't all be together at Christmas. We also went sledding and drove the four-wheelers around the farm. I can't wait for the next Thanksgiving! B) Then the rest of break I just played video games and I played with my friends in the snow and watched T.V. all day. I LOVE THANKSGIVING BREAK!!! It's so fun to just have some time off from school to have time with family and friends and to EAT A LOT. Thanksgiving is so fun.
So I was working on a Powtoon lately for 3 English settlements. Roanoke, Jamestown, and Plymouth. Here is my Powtoon! We watched a music video about cystic fibrosis which is a disease that makes it hard to breath sometimes and makes your life expectancy go down to 36. WARNING SAD VIDEO! The video is down below. I will also put the lyrics below the video. Hope when you take that jump
You don't fear the fall Hope when the water rises You build a wall Hope when the crowd screams out They're screaming your name Hope if everybody runs You choose to stay Hope that you fall in love And it hurts so bad The only way you can know Is give it all you have And I hope that you don't suffer But take the pain Hope when the moment comes You'll say... [Chorus] I, I did it all I, I did it all I owned every second That this world could give I saw so many places The things that I did Yeah, with every broken bone I swear I lived [Verse 2] Hope that you spend your days But they all add up And when that sun goes down Hope you raise your cup I wish that I could witness All your joy and all your pain But until my moment comes I'll say... [Chorus] I, I did it all I, I did it all I owned every second That this world could give I saw so many places The things that I did Yeah, with every broken bone I swear I lived [Bridge] Yeah, with every broken bone I swear I lived Yeah, with every broken bone I swear I lived [Chorus] I, I did it all I, I did it all I owned every second That this world could give I saw so many places The things that I did Yeah, with every broken bone I swear I lived I did a Haiku deck on Henry Hudson, a explorer. He sailed from 1609-1610. The rest of the info is in the Haiku Deck! Henry Hudson - Created with Haiku Deck, presentation software that inspires We did a project on a website called Thinglink about a topic. My topic was Mount Everest. Here is my Thinglink! Today Samuel Menyongar from Sierra Leone, Africa visited our school to give a presentation about his country and his home country Liberia. We also raised money for his village (Konde Farm) to have a well for water but he doesn’t know we are giving it to him (shhhhhhh. don’t tell him). He left Liberia because of a civil war but while he was running away his brother his brother got killed. He made it to Sierra Leone but a little while after he got there a civil war broke out there too. So he went to the United States in July and went to Omaha. He talked at schools about africa and how we could help. After he did a few presentations he wanted to go back to Sierra Leone but the Ebola epidemic had started and he couldn’t go back. So he decided to do more presentations at more schools. He came my school to give a presentation and we gave him a big check (it was a piece of paper drawn with marker but we gave the real check later) for $1,700 and he was excited. The last presentation he is doing is in another school. Then he is going back to Omaha to help donate things to Africa.
We watched a video called "Twenty Things We Should Say More Often" by Kid President and if you want to see it it's at the bottom. So my two things that we should say more often are *nothing* because sometimes we just get really annoying. My second thing is my sports team isn't always the best sports team because we sometimes get very very competitive and fight and argue over dumb things like who has the ball. This is another time that you might wanna say *nothing*. ;) And finally, THE VIDEO! | | | \/ Today we did some things with text evidence. Here are my two things on text evidence.
probably the reason the comic is worth so much is because it’s the first one and it has white pages. That means the pages didn't yellow over time like most comics like it. It also has all the pages in it and its in perfect condition. The reason that people visit the Harbin ice festival is because of the dazzling lights and sculptures and for kids some people put fun little things in their sculptures like ice slides and the best part, FREE HOT CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
